Southeast Asia Trip, Day 5: Chiang Dao Day Trip

On our way down the mountain (Doi Chiang Dao), we passed a small Thai military convoy headed up to destroy some nearby opium farms. The army driver stopped us to ask for directions, and our guide told them the way. (I didn’t ask how he knew the exact location of the opium fields. /:) )

  • Just so no one thinks we took a whole day trip just to see a military convoy, I'll add that MY highlight was riding an elephant for the first time, going down a river on a bamboo raft and the spectacular mountain views of the Chiang Dao valley. We all take away our own memories, I guess. :)
